THE IMPF NETWORK PROJECT
(Work Package 2)
IMPF has planned several in-person international networking and business events for independent music publishers and professionals from connected industries. See the calendar of Meetings and Events for 2023 here.

In June 2023 IMPF co-hosted events both in Toronto Canada and in New York, USA.
On June 06 IMPF and Music Publishers Canada held a joint reception preceding the ‘Inside the Song’ event. IMPF was particularly pleased that the Creative Europe network project of the European Union could assist with the recent valuable exchanges between songwriters and publishers in Europe and Canada, and that we were able to facilitate Fiona Bevan, published by IMPF member Concord and who, as part of our outreach to the Ivor’s Academy, joined the Toronto “Women in the Studio” sessions as a mentor. See news piece here and you can watch video highlights here.
On June 8 IMPF hosted a panel during Canadian Music Week. See the event details here.
On June 12 IMPF participated in a session during the AIMP Music Publishing Summit looking at how Independent Music Publishers approach a global market. See the event details here. IMPF hosted a joint luncheon with AIMP.
IMPF established a new, in-person international networking and business event for independent music publishers and professionals from connected industries.
In March 2022, IMPF began an open call process that saw members present proposals for events they could run to the benefit of the international, independent music publishing community. A survey carried out prior to the open call suggested that members wanted an event that could act as a hub at a well-connected location that was easy to get to – potentially going some way to replacing Midem. Out of the various proposals the open call generated, the Board decided that the proposal for an event in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in mid-October best fitted the requirements as had been identified in the criteria for the open call. The Palma Music Entrepreneurial and Creative Industry Summit took place from October 9 – 12. The event was attended by 200+ delegates representing some of the world’s most successful independent publishing companies, with high profile industry speakers covering a range of topics including metadata, royalty collection, buy-outs, AI-assisted creation and the metaverse. A five-day song-writing camp ran alongside the conference hosting 27 songwriters who produced more than 40 tracks in total. You can view images from the events here.
Who we worked with
22D Music Group, Alondra Music, Kemper Music Group, Musixmatch, Downtown Music, Budde Music, On Music, Session Studio.
The event was attended by 200+ music publishing delegates, songwriters and associated interested parties.
The response to the event was overwhelmingly positive. An evaluation of the event saw the location rated 4.86/5, the overall summit 4.57/5, content of the panels 4.52/5, networking opportunities 4.79/5 and the social events 4.60/5. The next round of open calls for a follow-up event will be sent out in early Spring 2023.
